Short bio…

“One of the finest blues guitarists and songwriters in the world. Few can match the peerless technique, passion and polish demonstrated by singer-songwriter-slide guitarist David Essig.” (Victoria Times-Colonist)

BC-based musician David Essig is a widely-respected interpreter of folk and blues music, and a masterful slide player on acoustic guitar, electric guitar and lap-style Weissenborn.  He is also a thoughtful and intelligent songwriter, with story songs that can move audiences to laughter and tears.  David has recorded 20 solo album over the years, as well as producing more than 60 albums by fellow artists such as Fred Eaglesmith, Doug McArthur, Jackie Washington and Willie P. Bennett.

For his 2004 double CD entitled “A Stone in My Pocket”, David recorded new versions of his most popular and moving songs from the past 35 years.  The album was released in Canada by WEA and in Europe by IRD.  “Rolling Fork to Gallows Point” (2011) was a landmark delta blues album that was hailed as “a beautiful, rough and tumble blues record – passionately played and lovingly recorded.”  (Penguin Eggs Magazine).  David’s most recent CD, “Moon on Rough Bay” (2012) is a compelling collection of original songs that highlight his work as one of Canada’s finest roots and blues singers, songwriters and guitarists.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience one of Canada’s legendary performers.
